A universal message on canvas

Team WisdomWinds

Mahatma Gandhi had rightly said, “God has no religion.” And, India is a splendid example of a country that embraces religious diversity to its core, celebrating every festivity of  every culture without any biases.

It is this message of universal love and brotherhood that the artists of Roop Chand Institute of Fine Arts showcased through their exhibition, God is One. The exhibition, organised at the Roop Chand Art Gallery in New Delhi, brought forth this very ideology of the  harmonious fusion of all the religions.

The exhibition demonstrated the power of art to bring about change in the world through beautiful message of universal peace in colours, shunning the division of God in the name of religion. The paintings portrayed different Gods of different religions, while assimilating them at the same place is a perfect metaphor that beauty lies in unity, not division.

The ensemble of artists represented their vivid imagination of God on canvas. The painting by Namish Arora was a commendable approach towards displaying the power of unity, where all religious symbols are juxtaposed into a single frame. Buddha, the face that itself defines peace, was a beautiful creativity submitted by Sunil Kumar Saini.

The works of Laxman Kumar were perfect examples of the essence of cultural diversity, where he amalgamated Sikhism, Jainism, Christianity and Hinduism in the faces of Guru Nanak Dev, Jesus Christ, Tirthankar Mahavir and Sai Baba, who are known to be the preachers of peace, defying all social taboos. His portrait of Goddess Durga reinforces the feminine power and its significance in the society.

Lord Ganesha, who is considered as the most auspicious god of Hindu Mythology, was carved onto the canvas with most intricate details by Riya Jain, Ramchandra Pokale and Deepshikha. Aman Anand projected the motto of peace and harmony through his monochromatic portrait of Sai Baba, where the figure of Sai Baba emerged in white from the dark background, adding to the overall aura of the painting.

The portrait of Lord Shiva, who is considered to be the most balanced and powerful combination of peace and destruction, was displayed in vibrant hues by Himanshu Maan.

Shadan Batool’s unique representation of the beauty and grace of Islam, combined with beauty was effortlessly portrayed through a peaceful message inscribed in Urdu beside a rose; the symbol of purity and beauty.

Lord Krishna, the most dignified preacher known across the world, the one who has transcended the boundaries of religion and is believed by millions across the world, was captured in colours by Pooja Bhagat. Sheeba Siddiqui through her portrait of a Sufi Saint brought forth the significance of the most widely followed belief all around the globe that preaches nothing but peace and unification with God.

The exhibition was one-of-a-kind initiative that showcased the message of universal peace and love in an impressive manner.
