“Happiness does not lie in outward appearances or in vanity. It is a matter of what we feel inside; it is deep resonance in our lives.” - Dr. Daisaku Dkeda
Each one of us is searching for happiness, but what happiness constitutes of is different for everybody. Some may find it in their work, job, study and some may find it in their passion and hobbies. Directly or indirectly, we have only one purpose – to be happy.'
Among all this, is there a true happiness that offers complete fulfillment to all? Soka Gakkai International (SGI) President Dr. Daisaku Ikeda addresses this most fundamental question in this book which is a compilation of selected excerpts from his writings and speeches.
Emphasising on the importance of absolute happiness, it teaches that it is indestructible and is characterised by supreme joy and wisdom rather than relative happiness, that is related to materialistic needs and earthly desires, which fades with time.
More importantly, he also stresses that we write our own destiny through our thoughts, words and actions. He further writes the importance of bringing happiness in one’s own life as well as the life of ethers. The readers will definitely appreciate the book, as it offers an insight into what it means to live a truly happy life.
“Genuine happiness can only be achieved when we transform our way of life from the unthinking pursuit of pleasure to one committed to enriching our inner lives, when we focus on ‘being more’ rather than simply having more.”

President Dr. Daisaku Ikeda writes that happiness does not lie in outward appearances, it is a matter of how we feel inside. It is a deep resonance in our lives. I am sure all of us have heard this before from our parents, teachers or friends. However, there are not many of us who have found the absolute and supreme happiness.
Fullfillng desires such as that of wealth, fame or social status constitute relative happiness. These desires give us temporary satisfaction, satisfaction enough to start the job that we have started. However, seeking only relative happiness will not help us build a truly happy life.
For us to find true happiness, one has to believe in oneself, to set aside all types of outward happiness, in pursuit of a satisfied mind – that truly is being happy.
