In this issue, we focus on Kerala Mahabodhi Mission, an organisation that promotes eco-friendly living, education, humanitarian and spiritual care, along with the goal of building a bridge for understanding and acting compassionately towards all humanity, Buddhist and non-Buddhist alike.
Kerala Mahabodhi Mission conducts various programs for the welfare of the society. Their vision is to promote eco-friendly and mindful living, education, humanitarian projects and spiritual care.
The Mission also provides regular services such as vipasana, mediation, yoga training, value-based training programme for children and youth, family wellness programme, reiki healing, Pali language training, publishing Dhamma books in local language, conducting environmental activities at school level, educational scholarship for women and needy students, and other such humanitarian programmes.
Promoting eco living
The organisation has initiated the project for caring about the environment and prompting people to be focused towards mindful living. As per the Mission, eco-living means ecosustainable living, or living in harmony with people and the environment for long-term sustenance. It is based on the understanding of interdependence between all life forms on the Earth. It also focuses on respecting every species we share our entire planet with.
Promoting education
The Mission’s approach to teaching Dhamma to young people is based on the theme of Values and Life Skills, which means that there is less emphasis on memorising books and more on teaching the basic values exemplified by the Buddha’s life. The organisation focuses on how the Buddha’s teachings can be used as life skills in day-to-day situations to solve various problems.
Promoting humanitarian care
As per the organisation, humanitarian care projects have been initiated for helping people survive in the most turbulent times and relieving their suffering. Kerala Mahabodhi Mission is one of the forthcoming organisations in the region that provides prompt help to people in the times of crisis, any natural disaster or calamity.
The organisation also prophesises about Buddhist philosophy, and emphasises on the need for peaceful existence amongst living beings. It focuses on larger collaboration between humans for long-term survival on earth. Highlighting on showing compassion for animals and not harming the environment, the organisation provides context about the Buddha’s teachings and how they are still relevant in the current times.
Promoting spiritual care
Kerala Mahabodhi Mission provides the noble service of assisting the aged, the sick, and the terminally ill. It offers spiritual care to such people, helping in relieving their suffering and making their last journey easy and peaceful.
The organisation depends on funds from donations for undertaking various humanitarian projects, conducting classes and other programme. Please contribute generously towards the Mission.
